We are a guesthouse that transformed an old building, preserving its character while incorporating regional design elements to create a distinctive experience.
The Frame Guesthouse is a three-story heritage shophouse in Georgetown, Penang, that once housed a frame maker’s shop. Guided by a commitment to authenticity, functionality, and materials that age beautifully, we restored only what was essential, preserving the building’s timeless charm.
The original concrete floors, walls, and surfaces were retained with minimal treatment, keeping much of the space as it was before the renovation. Rough, peeling walls and exposed traces of removed electrical fixtures were intentionally left untouched, showcasing the building’s raw, authentic character.
Our slogan, “Frame the Right Moment,” reflects our mission to help guests capture meaningful memories. Inspired by the building’s history as a frame maker’s shop, it encourages guests to treasure moments—whether exploring Georgetown’s heritage, relaxing in our spaces, or connecting with fellow travelers.
On the ground floor, you'll find R COFFEE CO., renowned for its artisanal coffee, where you can enjoy the lively atmosphere of the neighborhood.
