About

Big Tree Lodge combines colonial charm with the comforts of home. Our large colonial villa (formerly known as Redwood Lodge) and one time vicarage still features timber panelling, furniture, new timber ceilings and double glazed windows. It offers free unlimited Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, towels, laundry facility, modern and spacious bathrooms with separate toilets and a comfy community living room including a log burner, large LCD TV with PS3, and DVDs. Books, jigsaws, boards games can be found in the hallway . Our large, fully-equipped kitchen, with 2 cookers, is directly connected to the living area.

There are six lockable bedrooms in the lodge: 2 twins, double, 4-bed and 5-bed shares, plus a double with single bunk room for our family guests. Beds have warm duvets, mink blankets and electric blankets in private rooms, clean and heated. Linen and towels supplied. If you're too tired to relax by the cosy log burner after a hard day on the slopes our private rooms have LCD TV's with built in DVD players for your relaxation.

We have a free lockup for your snow gear and a snowboard/ski tuning area for your use.

We offer free private off-street parking. There is mountain transport, door-to-door, and airport transfer available from local transport providers, booking a must. Plus, we're only four minutes walk from town centre!

I only stayed for one night but overall I liked this hostel. very comfy beds and nice showers/toilets. Small kitchen but it wasn't busy so not an issue. front door was left open all the time and no keys for the dorm do anybody could come and go which I don't think is ideal.

I’ve stayed at well over 100 hostels in my life. This is not the worst, but it’s definitely in the bottom quartile. Mostly for cleanliness. It’s basically a boarding house for the workers at the mountain, with one room set aside as a hostel. Their belongings are everywhere you turn in the common areas. It was very cold except in the big common room. There weren’t other travelers when I stayed, so it felt a bit like I was intruding in the house of the staff. Beds were comfy.
